Let’s interact – Meeting four native speakers for one week
Last week we, the students from class 10, had an English project called „Interact“. Four native speakers out of different English speaking countries visited us for one week. Cate and Leticia were out of the USA, Tyler was from Canada and Daisy was from New Zealand.
On Monday we met in the auditorium and the four instructors told us in which group we were in. After a little small talk in their groups the native speakers switched rooms to meet the other groups. Every student could ask questions and learn something about them or their country. The students in groups of around 15 people had to go in teams with 4-5 people. In these teams we played a game called „Encounter challenge“. There we had to answer questions about the native speakers and make crazy challenges like marrying a chair, making a catwalk as a team or even calling the White House. At the end we played funny games with the other groups.
Every morning we started with team buildings in form of little games like „Splat“, „The Chair Game“, „Frozen Photo“ and many more. We also worked on many projects with different topics. One of them was „Democracy in Action“. We learned a lot about this theme and practised it in different exercises. On Wednesday we had a group rotation for every lesson. In this rotation we learned something about the various interests of every single native speaker. An also very interesting theme was making our own theatre. The task was to create a modern fairytale. We also designed short campaign videos on important issues.
On Friday we practised our presentations for class 9. In the fifth lesson we showed them a little summary of our week, our personal opinion and gave them an introduction to the project next year.
It was a funny, interesting and crazy week with four amazing people. Everyone learned a lot and we will keep this week in our mind forever. We will remember all of it and say thank you for this beautiful week.
