InterACT 2022 – Intercultural English project for our 10th grade

Three Native Speakers brought a week-long English immersion experience directly to our classrooms. Here you can read some of our testimonials:

Report 1

In the second week of the new school year the students of the 10th grade took part in the InterACT project. The project started on Monday with a short welcome of the three Native Speakers from Iran, Chile and the USA. After that we joined our groups and had the chance to meet and talk to our group leaders.

For the rest of the week we spoke a lot of English and discussed interesting topics (e.g. democracy). Later we created film clips about safer cities, mental health, fair trade, gender equality or wild life animals. Then we created and performed a theatre scene. Furthermore we played a lot of games: ‘Change your seats’, ‘Activity’, ‘Red light, green light’, ‘Zombie’, ‘Mafia’, ‘Who am I?’ and ‘Capture the flag’.

On Friday we presented our film clips, a theatre scene and we said something about the week. The presentation was in front of some students of the 9th grade and we hope that they will have the chance to be part of this project next year.

During the whole week we had the opportunity to speak a lot of English with no pressure and a lot of fun. We want to thank the Native Speakers one more time for being so relaxed, nice and caring!

Report 2

Last week the InterAct project for the tenth grades took place at our school. During this time, three

English speaking people worked with us. We were divided into three groups and on the first day, we

were allowed to ask them various questions, which helped us to get to know them better. On the

following day, we played a lot of games. One of them was called “photo find” and we had to take

different photos within a certain period of time. On the third day, we tried to become real comic

artists. Some of us succeeded, and others didn’t. At the end, we all played the game “Capture the

Flag”. On Thursday, we collected ideas and concepts for the presentation. In addition, we tried to

become real film producers by making our own stop-motion film. Then came the last day of our

project week. On this day, we finished our presentation and presented it to the ninth-graders. The

week was a lot of fun and a nice change from the normal English lessons.

 Report 3

Last week, we were visited by three native speakers of English:

Trini, a very kind and nice person, Alma, a calm and structured speaker, and Bree, one of the funniest

people ever.

They spent their week here in Ohrdruf and were with us during the whole school week. Every day,

we played games, worked on tasks that were interesting to everybody and we just had a lot of fun

together. One of the most popular games was “Werewolves” – everybody liked that. Overall, the

InterAct project was a great and fun experience. We would like to thank Trini, Alma and Bree for this

amazing week.
